Pastor’s Biography

Reverend Walter L. Solomon Sr. is the second of three sons born to Reverend Donald and Clarice Solomon. He was educated in the Jefferson County School System and is a 1984 graduate of Minor High School. He furthered his secular education by attending The University of West Alabama (Livingston University), and is a graduate of Miles College. In July of 2010, he earned a Master’s Degree in counseling/psychology from the University of West Alabama. In 2015 Pastor Solomon graduated with honors from Andersonville Theological Seminary with a Doctor of Ministry in Biblical Counseling.


Pastor Solomon responded to the call of God and began his preaching ministry on January 13, 1991. He prepare for ministry by attending Birmingham Essonian Baptist College and Anderson Theological Seminary. In June of 1995, he responded to the call of God and accepted the invitation to become the first pastor of the Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church of North Pratt. God truly blessed that ministry. Led by the Spirit of God, Pastor Solomon equipped and organized members of Mount Moriah and led then into a sustained period of spiritual and financial growth. After serving Mount Moriah for twenty-two years, Pastor Solomon heard the voice of God calling him to a new field of labor. In December of 2017, he accepted the call to become the pastor of The Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Anniston, Alabama. Excited about the future, Pastor Solomon looks forward to many years of spirit led worship at Bethel.


Pastor Solomon has had the opportunity to preach revivals and teach seminars in cities across the country such as Louisville, Kentucky, Canton, Ohio, Meridian, Mississippi, just to name a few. Pastor Solomon has also had the privilege of taking short term mission trips to Port Hartcourt and Lagos, Nigeria as well as Mombasa and Meriakani, Kenya.


Pastor Solomon is a member of the board of directors of Congregations for the Public Health. He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. He has had the privilege to be the guest chaplain for the United States House of Representatives, the Birmingham City Council as well as the Alabama House of Representatives.


Pastor Solomon is married to the former Cheryl Lynn Fisher. They have one son (Walter), and one daughter (Christian). He is further employed by the University of Alabama-Birmingham Hospital as a Computer Systems Analyst in the department of HSIS.
